About Red Mountain Resort

Billed as a “Luxurious Adventure Resort”, Red Mountain Resort in Ivins, Utah is an all-inclusive spa resort with optional hiking and fitness classes located on the border of Snow Canyon State Park. Guests can participate in the full weight-loss program at Red Mountain with personalized nutrition and training plans, or the less structured wellness retreats for a more flexible, relaxing vacation.

Red Mountain’s packages are available to adults and children 12 and older. Weight-loss programs begin and end on Sundays, and are sold in one-week increments. Fitness classes take place at the resort, while guided hikes take place at nearby Snow Canyon State Park or weekly excursions to Zion National Park 1.25 hours away.

Red Mountain Resort offers both 82 hotel rooms and 24 private villa suites located on the resort. Deluxe rooms come in a variety of options, including one-king bed and double-queen bed options, and are perfect for solo guests or couples. The one- and two-bedroom villas can house up to six guests at a time, though may also accommodate solo travelers.

Guests to Red Mountain Resort can choose one of the resort’s nightly packages for shorter stays, or try one of their multi-night packages or week-long weight-loss plan. Accommodations at both the rooms and villas include:

  • Single-king or double-queen beds
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Flatscreen TV with satellite channels
  • Refrigerator in-suite
  • Fireplace (villas)
  • Private deck or balcony (villas)

The Red Mountain Resort campus lies on 55 acres immediately adjacent to Snow Canyon State Park, and only a quarter mile from the park entrance. The resort offers the following amenities:

  • Outdoor & indoor pools
  • Three whirlpools
  • Adventure concierge
  • Sagestone Spa & Salon
  • Red Mountain Outfitters clothing & gift store
  • Pet-friendly resort
  • Laundry facilities

Guests of Red Mountain Resort can choose their fitness level based on their weight-loss goals. Red Mountain boasts that they offer more individual testing and personalized attention than similar resorts, and their extensive schedule with multiple options lets guests customize their experience.

Red Mountain visitors can participate in the morning hikes around Snow Canyon State Park, which vary in difficulty and intensity based on your specific fitness needs. Beyond hiking, a typical day at Red Mountain Resort includes 7-10 options for exercise classes at the resort itself, which may include some of the following:

  • Yoga
  • Cardio
  • Strength
  • Barre
  • Pool
  • Pilates
  • Stretch
  • Boot camp
  • MELT roller
  • Zumba

Red Mountain also advertises the “adventure” part of their resort, with a wide variety of outdoor activities. However, be advised that many of these adventure excursions come at an extra cost beyond the all-inclusive fee. Some of these activities include:

  • Rock climbing
  • Higher-intensity hikes (including Zion National Park)
  • Kayaking
  • Rappelling
  • Canyoneering
  • Horseback riding
  • Paddle boating

Red Mountain Resort offers two dining options on-campus: Canyon Breeze Restaurant and Canyon Counter.

Canyon Breeze Restaurant is Red Mountain’s main dining option, offering breakfast and lunch buffets and gourmet dinners and desserts. Canyon Breeze also has a demonstration kitchen for cooking classes and nutrition observation.

Canyon Counter instead offers take-out healthy options, including flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and other snacks and light meals.

Unlike many other FitStays, Red Mountain Resort places less of an emphasis on calorie limitations. As evidenced by the buffets and desserts for meals, as well as the alcoholic options offered with meals, weight-loss-focused guests will need to be self-regulating to meet their goals.

The Sagestone Spa & Salon at Red Mountain Resort offers all full spa services, as well as customized packages, including unique treatments available only here. Spa services are not included in the all-inclusive package price.

Red Mountain Resort also offers a variety of non-fitness classes and experiences. Some of these classes may include:

  • Pottery
  • Bird watching
  • Wine tasting
  • Cooking demonstration
  • Shaman spirit guide sessions
  • Chakra balancing
  • Meditation
  • Animal sanctuary visit
  • Tai Chi
  • Art gallery tour
  • Drumming
  • Digital photography

Some of these activities are included in the program price, while others have an extra cost to participate.

Red Mountain Resort is located on the east side of Ivins, Utah adjacent to Snow Canyon State Park. The resort is just off of Snow Canyon Parkway, and about 20 minutes up the road from St. George, Utah.

Travelers arriving by plane typically fly into Las Vegas’s McCarran International Airport and take a rental car or shuttle bus to the resort, or fly directly into the St. George Regional Airport. Red Mountain Resort offers complimentary shuttle service for guests arriving at the St. George Airport.

Red Mountain Resort offers nightly rates, 3- and 4-night retreats, and week-long packages. The fitness focused weight-loss retreat at Red Mountain is a seven-day program beginning on Sundays.

The week-long weight loss program starts at $2,200, and goes up based on room selection and “adventure” outings desired.

Red Mountain Resort offers more activities than a typical weight-loss retreat—but also offers more food options as well. Visitors with a strong willpower to control their calorie counts, or those just seeking an adventure vacation, should keep Red Mountain in consideration for your next FitStay.

Red Mountain Resort Pros

  • Numerous activities – Red Mountain Resort has more fitness options than most resorts in this category; if you’re looking for variety, Red Mountain has it.
  • Adventure options – One of the main selling-points of Red Mountain is their adventure outings, including everything from rock climbing to kayaking to horseback riding.
  • Natural environment – Right next to Snow Canyon State Park, Red Mountain is aptly named after the red-rock vistas around the resort.

Red Mountain Resort Cons

  • Extras cost extra – Most of the “adventure options” listed above cost extra, so consider the price of your desired activities when calculating your trip budget.
  • Non-regulated meals – Many fitness resorts have strict calorie limitations to promote weight-loss. Red Mountain Resort will share the calories in each dish, but the buffet meals and dessert options may not align with everyone’s weight-loss goals.
  • Older resort – At 20 years old, Red Mountain has been around longer than many other FitStays. Some guests have commented that some rooms and buildings could use some renovation.

You will find what you are looking for

I have been twice in last 120 days. The rooms range from very simple to a reasonable suite. They frequently offer specials like 15% off and $150/day credit.
The food is excellent. I am lacto ovo and I love all three meals. Carnivores also seem pleased. Classes are adequate. Spa is very comfortable and the treatments good.
The key to red mtn are the morning hikes that are included. There are 3 levels and the Endurance level is exceptional. Beautiful areas, 7 to 9 mile, and pretty difficult.
There is always fresh fruit available and good coffee and tea.
Can drive there from Vegas in 2 hours easy.
